Five beauty products worth being obsessed over.
Let me start by saying that this is not an ad or sponsored in any way. These are five products we are genuinely obsessed with at Billie and I believe that when you find a secret beauty blessing you need to share it with the masses.
1. Go-To Face Hero
If you haven’t heard of Go-To, boy are you in for a TREAT! Go-To is a beauty brand started by the most fabulous Zoë Foster Blake. A former colleague of mine introduced me to this gorgeous peachy brand and it’s worth every scent of hype.
One of my skincare ‘Go-To’s’ (ya, I know….) is their Face Hero Face Oil.
Face oil is a new player in the skincare game for me but if you are looking to achieve glowy, hydrated skin - this little guy is worth every penny. A little bit also goes a long way and boosts that skin to look its very best whilst also acting as a protective barrier to other nasties trying to upset your face. If my hype speech wasn’t quite convincing enough to buy the full bottle, the good news is that this is stocked at Mecca. Which means that you can buy a small travel-sized bottle or they may even give you a little sample to try before you buy.
2. COSRX Acne Pimple Master Patch
It doesn’t seem to matter how many times I’ve been told not to pop my pimples, I just don’t listen. I always decide on the spot that I’d rather be rid of the painful red spot on my face now than let it do it’s thing and heal on its own. Of course this means that I’m left with a slightly less painful spot, that then turns into a scar which is just as ugly.
So girls (and guys) if that sounds like a bit of you, let me introduce the life-saver that is a pimple patch. I came across these on @shitskinchat’s Insta and if you suffer from any form of acne or you are just a skincare addict, you should follow her immediately. You simply pop one of these patches on overnight and it draws out all the ick underneath and creates a good environment for healing to begin. Although it doesn’t solve your pimple problem overnight, it takes it from a raging painful pimple to a nice settled guy that you can handle. The best part is the price, costing $6 for 24 patches.
3. Mario Badescu AHA Botanical Body Soap
Chances are that you either have, have had or will have Keratosis Pilaris at some point in your teenage years (and sometimes beyond sorry 😢). This is of course the formal medical name for something better known as Chicken Skin. This is when you get a patch of little acne-like white bumps on your skin, typically on your upper arms, thighs, or butt. It’s absolutely harmless, usually hormonal, but it can understandably make some people feel a little insecure. One of the best parts of working in the world of magazines was access to beauty editors. These wonderful humans had a wealth of knowledge and a product for everything! The Mario Badescu AHA Botanical Body Soap was the recommendation of now MiNDFOOD beauty editor, Megan Bedford, for tackling the chicken skin on my upper arms. This stuff smells incredible but best of all, it actually works! AHA, which stands for alpha hydroxy acid, works like a very gentle exfoliator scrubbing away the dirt and keratin plugs that are causing the KP.
So if you are currently looking for a solution for chicken skin, I recommend giving this a go! Just don’t scrub too hard when applying - the soap is already doing the hard work for you.
4. L'Oreal Paris Wake Up And Glow Highlighting Drops
Hand on heart, I have never ever had so many compliments on my skin before this stuff came into my life. People were genuinely telling me out loud how fantastic my skin looked and the only thing that has changed was I’d started using the L’Oreal Highlighting Drops. When ‘glowing’ and ‘illumination’ became a thing in beauty I truly had no clue what anyone was on about. But I truly understand now the hype behind this stuff. The product itself looks like a bottle of liquid gold which I love but it’s what it does on my face that I truly love. I mix a few drops in with my foundation or tinted moisturiser and then apply to my face. It’s so simple and fool-proof compared to contouring etc that I still don’t know how to do. Simply apply and let those compliments roll in!
5. Tailor Make Up Removing Cloth
When I started using these little face towels I was sceptical - how could this be better than your regular face cloth?
Wasn’t the true cleaning power in the skincare itself?
Well the answer is yes, sort of! You still need to cleanse that sweet face of yours but using a microfibre towel only levels up your skincare routine. Firstly, these things are SOFT which is great for sensitive skin. It’s like rubbing your face with the fur of a lil baby rabbit, not that you would do that… but if you have ever petted a baby rabbit then you understand! Secondly, these things are amazing for removing everything off your face. Alongside an oil cleanser, you pretty much never have to use makeup remover and makeup wipes again. I love this because it’s great for your face but also the environment! I personally went for the twin pack so I could always have one ready to go, while the other was in the wash. Simple and at $19 for two you can’t go wrong.
