My Version chats to Kiwi stars and people of influence to give a glimpse into their time as a teen and see the things they are currently obsessed with!

Say hello to Gen-Z songstress, Miah Kate.

Obsessed RN.

Currently bingeing:

Wednesday is my current favourite! I’m still in awe of Jenna Ortega’s performance. I also loved the music in this show, especially the cello.

Song on repeat:

Maisie Peters recently came to New Zealand and her show was effortlessly amazing. So every song on her album is currently being streamed at all times. Favs are Body better and John hues movie <3

Favourite Insta account to follow:

Gotta be Jess Conte. Her aesthetic just calms me and that’s always a nice presence on social media. I mostly love her stories because they show snippets from her YouTube channel! (Which I also love)

Must have beauty product:

I love to use sun-glass from Coastal Citizen. I don’t do makeup often so my beauty products are mostly skincare :)

The item of clothing I’m definitely over wearing:

I wear a Cos2(x) ring 24/7, can’t over-wear this thing but I am never without it ♥

Currently reading:

The language of flowers - by Mandy Kirkby. I’ve become obsessed with floriography and what stories and meanings come with each flower. I bought the book after being inspired by the flower Oleander, so much so that I wrote a song called Sweet Oleander!

Snacking on:

Copper Kettle chips, my bank account can testify to this addiction.

Can’t stop watching on TikTok:

I left TikTok behind a while ago. My life is so much happier without it! But I do miss Abby Cate's videos, such a beautiful voice, and I'm a sucker for acoustic guitar.

Dreaming of:

Being able to do music full-time! That’s the ultimate dream. Writing songs and recording. Plus the entrepreneur in me would love to be creative full-time.

Next place on the list to travel to:

I have always wanted to travel through Europe! Especially Italy. But I’d also love to go back to America and re-experience it in my 20’s.

I’m currently inspired by:

So many people! Sabrina Carpenter and Gracie Abrams are musically inspiring to me currently. But I’m also inspired by the people and stories around me.

My favourite way to relax is:

Gotta be writing music, It’s like therapy but in the coolest way.

I stay healthy by:

I try to practice healthy mental health, keeping those worries away! I mostly do that through my faith and relationship with god :)

When I was younger…

If I could give my teenage self one bit of advice, what would it be:

Be confident in the choices you make and the paths you take!

My dream job as a teen was:

I’m only just out of being a teen, but I will say, in primary school at our “what do you want to be when you grow up” disco. I was dressed as a pop star. Sequins and all.

My favourite part of being a teenager was:

I was super lucky to have the best people around me growing up, we were always having so much fun. High school was something I really enjoyed. So many creative subjects all in one place, surrounded by friends. What's not to love!!

Best piece of advice I ever received as a teen was:

Go for what you want! Push past everything telling you not to and go for it. 20 seconds of courage will get you a long way!

My first job was:

Working at a bead/jewellery store! Honestly the coolest job ever. You get to make all kinds of jewellery and help others make their own too! They also sell fudge *Bonus*

My biggest inspiration was:

Growing up watching the old 1940s - 1970s musicals was a massive inspiration for me gravitating toward the arts! With actors like Gene Kelly, Dorris day, Howard keel, Judy Garland, and Julie Andrews how could I not? I still to this day am in awe of how talented these actors and actresses were! They had to know how to dance, tap dance, sing, act, the whole shebang! Every skill was mastered and performed to perfection. They all must have worked incredibly hard to be on the screen and I respect and admire that dedication to the dream.

My biggest fashion faux-pas was:

I blame the iconic show H2o for this one. Zig-zag headbands… The phase latest two days, yet it still haunts me.
